"Khaaaaan! the Musical" concert reading Feb. 8
Prepare yourself for a rockin', time trippin', far out voyage with the crew of the Starship Enterprise when Khaaaaan! the Musical returns
to the Writer's Place for a special one night only concert performance
of the hit 2010 Kansas City Fringe Festival play.
The cast includes Jay Coombes and Amy Hurrelbrink reprising their roles, along with new faces Gary Wesche, Curtis Smith, and Pancho Villegas. The reading will be directed by Steven Eubank. Khaaaaan! the Musical was written by MDC playwright Bryan Colley and Tara Varney, with music by Tim Gillespie and Michelle Cotton.
Monday, February 8, at the Writer's Place, 3607 Pennsylvania. The reading begins at 7:00pm and will be followed by a talkback with playwright Bryan Colley and cast. As with all MDC readings, no reservations are required and it's free! Donations appreciated, and CD soundtracks will be available for purchase.

Lost "Khaaaaan!" Think Geek video discovered
Digging through the jumbled nether regions of my hard drives, I unearthed this digital gem from way back in 2011: the unfinished music video we created for ThinkGeek.com.
Think Geek graciously provided some awesome merchandise for us to use as a fundraiser for Khaaaan! the Musical. We promised them a music video in return, but despite our best efforts it was never quite finished. So here it is in all it's raw glory.
If you like the song, here's an mp3. It's a variation on "The Illogical Song" that we performed in the show. You can download the entire cast album for free here.

Interested in producing Khaaaaan! the Musical? Here's all the details:
Synopsis: Kirk, Spock, and McCoy must go back in time to the year 2010 to defeat the rock and roll god Khan. They find that the styles and culture haven't changed in the 30 years since Khan became president of the world in the 1980s. They defeat Khan with the help of a valley girl and the "Genesis Device," then go back to the future safe and sound.
Production History: Khaaaaan! the Musical was first produced at the Kansas City Fringe Festival July 27-August 1, 2010 (see the original show page). It was the best attended play of the festival (out of more than 70 events).
Requirements: The cast requires four males and one female. The running time is approximately 50 minutes. Set is minimal. Performance royalties are negotiable and dependent on the size of the performance venue and ticket prices.
